CAP Safety Pledge
As a Civil Air Patrol member I pledge to promote an uncompromising
safety environment for myself and others, and to prevent loss of, or
damage to Civil Air Patrol assets entrusted to me. I will perform all
my activities in a professional and safe manner, and will hold myself
accountable for my actions in all of our Missions for America.
I’M SAFE
Aircraft accident statistics show that pilots should be conducting preflight
checklists on themselves as well as their aircraft for
pilot impairment contributes to many more accidents
than failures of aircraft systems. The FAA I'M SAFE checklist,
which includes all of the categories of pilot
impairment can be
easily committed to memory. See the FAA Aeronautical Information Manual for more information.
I – Illness
M – Medication
S – Stress
A – Alcohol
F – Fatigue
E – Emotion
If one or more of these items affect you either before or during a CAP activity, you
have a responsibility to yourself and others to remove yourself from the mission. There is no shame involved, and
there will be no repercussions for reporting any effects.
